Ir Dr Chan is Chairman of Trustees’ Board of the global Arup Group, a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering practice. Previously, he was the Deputy Chairman of Arup Group (2007-2014), and before then, Chairman of Arup’s East Asia Region and the Hong Kong office (1996-2007).

Dr Chan has practised civil engineering for over 35 years, specialising in the field of geotechnics, and has particular experience in deep excavations and foundation systems relating to urban infrastructure and complex building development. His recent interests include research and engineering application of sustainability concepts in urban development.
