Professor Woo is Chair Professor of Nuclear Engineering of The City University of Hong Kong. He was one of the top-ranked scientists of Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) where he has served for 22 years before returning to Hong Kong. He was Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering of PolyU working on fundamentals of deformation mechanisms, and subsequently Chair Professor of Solid-State Electronics, working on Ferroelectric Tunnel Junctions and theory of neutron damage. He retired from PolyU in 2012 with an Emeritus Professorship. He was twice elected Chairman of the Nuclear Division of HKIE, and had served as advisers and members on various panels of the SAR government. His research interest is in basic materials science, particularly in problems caused by neutron damage accumulation in reactor components.
